Street / Parking Lot / Pole Light LED Retrofits

Street pole and parking lot fixtures traditionally use very high wattage along with outdated, inefficient technology that often requires constant maintenance. Metal halide HID, high pressure sodium HPS, or low-pressure sodium LPS lights are among some of the most common types of technology used for pole lights and parking lot fixtures that can benefit from an LED retrofit. Oftentimes these wattages can range anywhere from 175-1000W watt fixtures, and there are many LED retrofit options that you can use so that your new LED bulbs will fit into the existing fixture. Many popular kinds of fixtures include cobra head and shoebox fixtures, which all can be retrofitted to support LED technology. The typical benefits of installing an LED retrofit kit include drastically less energy usage (over 55% typically), very long life, clean and bright light output, and long lamp life (50,000+ hour rated).

Gas Station / Canopy / Garage Fixture LED Retrofits

Shine Retrofits carries a wide variety of options you can use to retrofit your ceiling mounted, outdoor-rated lighting fixtures. And if you need an LED lighting installation guide, you’re in the right place. The first thing you can do is determine whether you want to do an LED retrofit or purchase brand-new fixtures. Many of our cost-effective LED retrofit options depend largely on the wattage and size of the existing fixture, as well as the application it’s being installed for. That’s why we offer both completely new fixtures along with bulb, lamp, and plate type LED retrofit kits. For gas stations, we offer not only the bulb retrofit kit, but also brand-new LED retrofit fixtures that can be installed directly into your existing box type fixture or mounted right into the canopy itself for a flush look. The LED retrofit bulbs and lamps in the link above can also work in existing wall packs, garage fixtures, and canopy lights. If you need help learning how to install retrofit LED recessed lighting, please contact us.

Wall Pack LED Retrofit

Wall packs are some of the most popular fixtures for commercial building applications, especially when it comes to having outdoor lighting mounted to the building. Many of the traditional metal halide or high-pressure sodium wall packs range from 100-400 watts of power and require you to change the lamp/bulb out about every two years. You may also have to replace the ballast if that fails. There are a few things to keep in mind when doing an LED retrofit on a wall pack. One, you can often install smaller wattage lamps/bulbs in your wall packs at lower heights because of the increased power of LED lights. This also applies to new wall packs, which can often fall into the 20-100W range depending on the mounting height of the fixture. Secondly, you may need to purchase a brand-new wall pack fixture since LED retrofits often won’t fit into various kinds of traditional wall packs. That’s why we offer both options for you to purchase.

Courtyard / Post Top / Acorn LED Retrofits

Many architectural courtyard or postop fixtures currently exist with the old technology, which uses up a lot of energy and creates high maintenance costs. The additional downside to old metal halide or high-pressure sodium lamps is that the Color Rendering Index (CRI) is very low, meaning that all the bulbs emit a different part of the light spectrum, with different bulbs looking white, orange, yellow, and even pink in color. LED retrofit bulbs and new fixtures eliminate that problem while saving 50-60% energy and drastically reducing maintenance costs as well. We have kits that include E26 medium or E39/E40 mogul base stems for a direct and easy retrofit. Installation includes just rewiring the circuit/power directly to the socket and screwing in the new LED lamp. If you need any more LED retrofit instructions, please contact us.

High Bay / Low Bay LED Retrofits

High bay light fixtures are commonly used in warehouses, large retail areas, sports facilities, and manufacturing facilities, along with any other locations that might require fixtures to be mounted high up in indoor applications. Typically, mounting heights range from 15-40+ feet, which means that high-powered bulbs are necessary to light up the areas satisfactorily. Much of the current technology being used in high bay fixtures, like older metal halide/HID high bay fixtures, normally range in wattage from 250W all the way up to 1000W. But there are many downsides to the traditional technology: First, they use significant amounts of energy while operating, and secondly, the bulbs normally require replacement every 1.5-2 years, which takes a lot of time and energy. Shine Retrofits carries both high-powered LED retrofit kit plates and new high bay LED fixtures that cost 50-60% less to operate and are rated to last 10+ years with typical operating hours.

Linear T8 / T12 LED Tube Retrofits

LED tube light bulbs can directly replace your existing fluorescent T8 or T12 lamps commonly used in your existing fixtures. These LED bulbs use the same bi-pin configuration as your older technology, which means all you must do is bypass or remove the old fluorescent ballast, bringing the power directly to the LED tube (internal driver) or to the LED driver (externally powered), which then powers the LED lamps.

There are three types of LED bulbs: Type A is the easiest to install, simply replacing the LFL tube you had there before. Type B requires you to wire to the main voltage and bypass the fluorescent ballast, which requires additional work but is more energy efficient in the end. Type C, on the other hand, requires you to remove the original ballast and replace it. Though a little more trouble, type C is the most efficient of the three types.

Common applications include office and interior lighting, outdoor sign backlighting, plus coolers and freezers. The benefits of LED tubes compared with fluorescent technology are vast. Most LED tubes can boast 50,000-hour lamp life with no problems with flickering and full dimming capability. Plus, you can save more than 30% of the energy you’d use with fluorescent technology, experience vastly superior operation in cold temperatures, and not have to handle potentially hazardous material.
